Yesterday evening, when I went to town with mymother, we met a strange old man. It was raininghard and we had no umbrella(伞). We were trying toget into a taxi when he came up to us. He wascarrying a nice umbrella and he said that he wouldgive it to us for only a pound. He had forgotten hiswallet, he said, needed taxi-fare(出租汽车费) to goback home. My mother didn’t believe what he hadsaid at first, and asked him a lot of questions. Butthe old man didn’t get into a taxi.
