1 a word or words said to an actor to remind him/her of what to say next (对演员的)提词,提示: When she forgot her lines I had to give her a prompt. 她忘记台词的时候,我就得提示她一下。
2 (computing计算机技术) a sign on a computer screen that shows that the computer has finished what it was doing and is ready for more instructions (计算机屏幕上的)提示符(表示任务已经完成,准备接受新的指令): Wait for the prompt to come up then type in your password. 等提示符出现,然后键入密码。
