1 [T] order sb (to do sth) to use your position of authority to tell sb to do sth or to say that sth must happen 下令;命令: I'm not asking you to do your homework, I'm ordering you! 我不是在请你做功课,我是在命令你做!The company was ordered to pay compensation to its former employees. 公司被勒令对前雇员进行赔偿。
