1 to put a sign on sth 作记号;加上符号: We marked the price on all items in the sale. 减价期间,我们把所有货品都标上了价钱。I'll mark all the boxes I want you to move. 我会把要你搬走的箱子都做上记号。
2 to spoil the appearance of sth by making a mark on it (在某物表面上)留下痕迹或污点: The white walls were dirty and marked. 白墙给弄得很脏,都是一道道的痕迹。
3 to show where sth is or where sth happened 标出,表示(所在之处或所发生的地点): The route is marked in red. 这条路线用红色标出。Flowers mark the spot where he died. 鲜花标出他死亡的地点。

mark sb/sth down as/for sth to decide that sb/sth is of a particular type or suitable for a particular use 记下…(何种类型或适合派什么用场): From the first day of school, the teachers marked Fred down as a troublemaker. 开学第一天,老师就把弗雷德认定为捣乱份子。 mark sth out to draw lines to show the position of sth 画线标出位置: Spaces for each car were marked out in the car park. 停车场上的每个车位都用线画出。 mark sth up/down to increase/decrease the price of sth that you are selling 抬高╱降低(某物的价格): All goods have been marked down by 15%. 所有货品都削价一成半。
