1 used to emphasize that you are talking about a particular thing or person and not about another (用于强调)正是,恰好: Those were his very words. 这是他的原话。You're the very person I wanted to talk to. 你正是我想要与之谈话的人。
2 extreme 极其: We climbed to the very top of the mountain. 我们爬到了山的绝顶。
3 used to emphasize a noun (用于强调名词): The very thought of drink made her feel sick. 她一想到喝酒就觉得难受。
