1 [I] smell (of sth) to have a particular smell 有某种气味: Dinner smells good! 晚餐很香!This perfume smells of roses. 这香水散发出玫瑰的香气。His breath smelt of whisky. 他的呼吸有一股威士忌酒气味。

We do not use smell or other verbs of the senses (for example taste, see, hear) in the continuous tenses.
