1 used to emphasize an adjective or adverb, especially when this produces a particular result (用于形容词或副词前以加强语气,尤指造成某种结果的): She's so ill (that) she can't get out of bed. 她病得下不了床。He was driving so fast that he couldn't stop. 他开车开得太快,以至于停不下来。You've been so kind. 2 used in negative sentences for comparing people or things (用于否定句以比较人或物): She's not so clever as we thought. 她不如我们想象的那么聪明。
3 used in place of something that has been said already, to avoid repeating it (用于替代前述事物,以避免重复): Are you coming by plane? If so, (= if you are coming by plane) I can meet you at the airport. 你搭飞机来吗?如果是这样的话,我可以到机场去接你。‘I failed, didn't I?’ ‘I'm afraid so.’ “我失败了,是吗?”“恐怕是的。”

2 so (that) with the purpose that; in order that 为了;以便: She wore dark glasses so (that) nobody would recognize her. 她戴上墨镜以免被人认出。
3 used to show how one part of a story follows another (用于连接故事的上下文): So what happened next? 那么,接下来呢?
so what?(informal 非正式) (showing that you think sth is not important) Who cares? (表示没有什么了不起)那又怎样?: ‘It's late.’ ‘So what? We don't have to go to school tomorrow.’ “很晚了。”“那有什么关系?我们明天不用上学。”
