2 [T] not bear sth/doing sth to not be suitable for sth; to not allow sth 不适合;经不起: These figures won't bear close examination(= when you look closely you will find mistakes). 这些数字经不起仔细审查。What I would do if I lost my job doesn't bear thinking about (= is too unpleasant to think about). 我失业后会干什么,我不敢想象。
3 [T] (formal 正式) to take responsibility for sth 承担责任: Customers will bear the full cost of the improvements. 改进的费用全部由顾客承担。

A more common expression is ‘She had four children.’ When you talk about a person's own birth you use be born Olivia was born in 2000. 更常用的表达方式是:She had four children. 她生了四个孩子。谈论某人自己出生时用 be born:Olivia was born in 2000. 奥利维亚生于2000年。
8 [I] to turn or go in the direction that is mentioned 转向;朝向: Where the road forks, bear left. 到了交叉路口向左转。
