1 [C] a particular time when sth happens (某事发生的)时刻,时候;场合: I have met Bill on two occasions. 我见过比尔两次。
2 [C] a special event, ceremony, etc 特别的活动;典礼: Their wedding was a memorable occasion. 他们的婚礼是值得纪念的大事。
3 [sing] the suitable or right time (for sth) (做某事的)时机,机会: I shall tell her what I think if the occasion arises (= if I get the chance). 待有合适的时机,我就会把我的想法告诉她。 ☞You use occasion when you mean the time is right or suitable for something I saw them at the funeral, but it was not a suitable occasion for discussing holiday plans.
