2 to use physical strength to do sth or to move sth 用力干某事或搬动某物: The window had been forced (open). 窗子给撬开了。We had to force our way through the crowd. 我们不得不从人群里挤出去。
3 to make sth happen when it will not happen naturally 勉强作出: to force a smile/laugh 强作笑颜;勉强哈哈一笑To force the issue, I gave him until midday to decide. 为了促成那件事,我限他在正午以前作出决定。
force sb's hand to make sb do sth that he/she does not want to do, or make him/her do it sooner than intended 迫使某人做某事或提前做某事
