/ˈbɑ:gən ||; ˈbɑrgɪn/verb [I] bargain (with sb) (about/over/for sth) to discuss prices, conditions, etc with sb in order to reach an agreement that suits each person 谈条件;讲价;讨价还价: I'm sure that if you bargain with him, he'll drop the price. 我肯定,如果你跟他讲价,他会减价。They bargained over the price. 他们就价钱讨价还价。 bargain for/on sth (usually in negative sentences 通常用于否定句) to expect sth to happen and be ready for it 期望;预料: When they agreed to help him they didn't bargain for how much it would cost them. 他们当初答应帮他的忙,并没考虑到自己要付出多少代价。
